Overview
Spichr is designed to work without collecting your personal data. This document explains clearly what data the app processes, where it is stored, and how it is handled.
If you have questions not answered here, contact: sekidev@icloud.com
Data We Collect
Data You Provide
Spichr stores only the information you enter yourself:
- Food item names, quantities, categories, and locations
- Expiry dates and purchase dates
- Shopping list entries
- Custom tags and notes
- App preferences and settings
This data is stored locally on your device using Core Data. It does not leave your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifying information
- We do not use advertising networks or tracking SDKs
- We do not collect usage analytics, crash reporters from third parties, or behavioral data
- We do not build user profiles
iCloud Sync (Optional)
If you enable iCloud sync, your pantry data is stored in a private CloudKit container associated with your personal Apple ID.
- Your data is yours. Apple's CloudKit infrastructure stores it in your personal iCloud account, not on any server controlled by the developer.
- Access is limited to you. Only devices signed in to your Apple ID can access your CloudKit container.
- The developer has no access to your synced data. CloudKit private databases are inaccessible to app developers.
- iCloud sync can be disabled at any time in the app's Settings screen.
Apple's iCloud privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy: apple.com/legal/privacy
Notifications
Spichr may send local notifications to remind you when items are approaching their expiry date.
- Notifications are scheduled locally on your device
- No notification content is transmitted to any server
- You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings → Notifications → Spichr
JSON Export
The app offers a JSON export feature that creates a file containing your pantry data. This file is:
- Generated entirely on-device
- Saved to a location you choose (Files app, AirDrop, etc.)
- Not transmitted to any server by the app
You are responsible for the data once it is exported from the app.
Analytics
Spichr does not use any third-party analytics services (such as Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar). No behavioral or usage data is collected or transmitted.
Apple may collect anonymized App Store analytics if you have opted in to share diagnostics with Apple. This is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and is outside the scope of Spichr.
Third-Party Services
Spichr does not integrate with any third-party data services, advertising platforms, or social networks.
The only external infrastructure used is Apple's own CloudKit (optional, as described above).
In-App Purchases
If Spichr offers in-app purchases or a premium tier, these transactions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. The developer does not receive or store any payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple.
Children's Privacy
Spichr is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at sekidev@icloud.com.
Data Retention and Deletion
- On-device data can be deleted at any time by deleting the app from your device.
- iCloud data can be deleted by disabling iCloud sync in the app and then clearing the relevant iCloud data from your device's iCloud settings, or by deleting the app.
- We do not retain any data on external servers, so there is no server-side deletion process.
Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Because Spichr does not collect or store your data on developer-controlled servers, these rights are exercised primarily through your Apple device:
- Access: Your data is fully visible within the app
- Export: Use the JSON export feature to obtain a copy of your data
- Deletion: Delete the app or clear iCloud data to remove your data
For any privacy-related inquiries, contact sekidev@icloud.com.
Changes to This Policy
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Significant changes will be communicated through an app update notice.
